Motivational Monday

New Things to Try...

Is the theme this week and I'm going to share with you my favorite fitness product, the Bodybugg by Bodymedia. Now this isn't new to me....I bought one when I first started my weight loss journey, because all the cool people had them; Mrs. Jessica & Mrs. Ashley, lol

How it works:
You wear it in your left arm 23hrs a day. It monitors your activity, steps, sleeping pattern & you can log your food intake using their app or connect to apps like My Fit Pal. You can also buy the fancier ones that come with a heart rate monitor & a watch that pairs along with it, I simply have just the linking capability, nothing else. It syncs to your phone using Bluetooth so that you are able to see your activity in real time. The other nice thing is that you can program your fitness goals. It will also help you re-establish goals if needed.

When I first started wearing it, I burned as much as it told me to and ate as much as it told me to and the weight came off, but as I got more and more comfortable, I stopped wearing it all the time and then eventually all together. I'm not sure why but from time to time I slap it back on to help remind me of what I am supposed to do. But lately I haven't been on track so I decided this may be the time to get it back on and follow it again.

So that's sorta my new thing to try...actually sticking to something until I hit my goal....it may not seem like a big thing to you, but it's huge for me. I don't stick to things well...so I'm giving it another go and hoping I hit my next 20lbs gone when it says I will, in April.

So I start the week with my gym schedule laid out, my dinners planned and my mind set to do what my band tells me to do...

You can get the band online or at a local 24hr fitness. They aren't crazy expensive and it's only $6.95/mth for the phone app. I say give it a try, so far it's done me good!

My band wearing for my first day went well, did Attack & then my normal routine at home which includes mounds of laundry & house cleaning.....Overall I burned over 3,400 calories...the perks? I got to eat 2,400 calories! and it wasn't junk...which is hard to eat if your not eating junk. Follow me on My Fitness Pal to check out my diary!

  3. I really like the idea of the body media. I'm intrigued at how it senses body heat as part of the equation. But ... it's just so big and bulky and the monthly fee really turns me off. I'm pretty happy with my Fitbit. I still feel it's pretty accurate, it's so small and unobtrusive and the app is free. I'm a Fitbit Fan, and while all these gadgets are necessary for losing weight and gaining fitness ... they do make it more motivating!
